PTA Denies Firewall Allegations, Points to Faulty Underwater Cables

Chairmen Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman pointed to a fualty underwater cable. Moreover, he denied parallels between slowdown and the firewall update. Furthermore, he has stated, “The internet slowdown in the country is due to a faulty submarine cables, which is expected to be repaired by August 28th,”

PTA’s statement came with complete backlash from the public and lawmakers over the last couple of weeks. Additionally, PTA denied firewall installation owing to the slow internet speed.

Pakistani internet users are facing tremendous troubles over the slow internet speed over the last couple of week. Moreover, allegation are being raised of the government’s intent to monitor all the online activity.

At the same time, Pakistan’s IT sector has faced a tremendous loss, again owing to slow internet speed. Meanwhile, online monitoring agencies are citing loss of internet speed. Additionally, many freelancers are on a verge of unemployment owing to low internet speed. So, facing large problems in commuting.

However, PTA recently cited fault in an under water cable, and assured of its repair by the end of the month of August.
