Sources said that Pakistan’s head cricket coach, Aqib Javed, has named the ODI and T20I teams for their upcoming tour of New Zealand.
As the ODI team’s captain, wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan will be in charge, and all-rounder Salman Agha will be his assistant.

Mohammad Wasim Jr. and opening batter Abdullah Shafique both returned to ODIs after their last game in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Tayyab Tahir, Khushdil Shah, Irfan Khan Niazi, Abrar Ahmed, Akif Javed, Mohammad Ali, Sufyan Muqim, and Naseem Shah are also in the ODI team.
Salman Agha, an all-rounder, has been named captain of the T20I team, and Shadab Khan has been named vice-captain.
Aqib Javed thought that the choice to change captains was made with the T20 Asia Cup 2025 (coming up in September 2025) and the T20 World Cup 2026 in mind.
The Pakistan T20I team also has three players who have never played for their country before: Abdul Samad, Hasan Nawaz, and Mohammad Ali.
