FLiRT and LB.1, new COVID-19 variants are spreading across UK. Symptoms of the virus include fever, cough, and body aches. Doctors are recommending self-isolation.
New variants are the sub-variants of Omnicron. Though the latest viruses are contagious, experts don’t consider them life-threatening. Dr. Maryam Malik of the National Health Service (NHS) UK, says the opposite.

Dr. Malik states. “The FLiRT variant has specific changes in its spike protein that might make it spread more easily and dodge immunity from past infections or vaccines,”.Furthermore, she points out “Similarly, the LB.1 variant has mutations that help it spread and possibly weaken the protection we get from previous immunity, making these variants different from earlier versions of the virus.

Moreover, she has emphasized the importance of isolation and mutation. Drawing a parallel between gatherings and mutation NHS expert state. “New variants come about because the virus naturally changes over time.”Stating further, “When lots of people get infected, the virus has more chances to mutate. Also, our immune responses from past infections or vaccines can push the virus to evolve.”
New variants last for the same amount of time as Covid-19. Moreover, their symptoms include cough fever, body aches, change in smell, and loss of taste. Going for a PCR test will test positive.
Experts advise self-isolation and medications from the local pharmacy.
