For the first time since her incarceration in Adiala Jail, Maryam Nawaz (daughter of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif) has posted on her Twitter account.
The post was a couple of verses from Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, which she shared with the hashtag #VoteKoIzzatDo (a hashtag which was commonly used by Nawaz Sharif prior to his sentencing in the Avenfield case).
This tweet comes as little of a surprise since most Pakistanis did not expect her to stay quiet for long. Maryam Nawaz is famous for being vocal and uninhibited in her statements and despite the arrests of herself, her husband, and her father, PML-N is still offering continuous support to the Sharif family.
She followed up the Tweet with another similar couplet along with a video that endorsed PML-N’s election campaign.
And Pakistanis couldn’t help but notice that Maryam actually tweeted sitting in jail:
Madam connection konsa hai ?
Zong 4g or Mobilink ?— Zaydan Khan (@Zaydan_Khan) July 22, 2018
And this…
Pakistan london to kiya apki to twitter par bhi koi izzat nahin

A few weeks ago, an accountability court in Islamabad sentenced the former three-time Prime Minister to a total of 11 years in prison and slapped a £8-million fine (Rs1.3-billion) on Nawaz for “owning assets disproportionate to known sources of income”.
Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to eight years with a £2-million fine (Rs335-million) and her husband, Captain (retd) Safdar, was handed a one-year prison sentence.
With a huge number of people standing for the general elections, it is hard for most people to find a reason to vote for PML-N candidates. Their leader was ousted as Prime Minister not once but thrice. Not to mention the fact that the entire Sharif family hid assets worth millions of rupees from Pakistan when their government was in place, showing everyone that they have lied to the public on multiple occasions.
It is obvious that PML-N needs to really up the scrutiny of it members before people deem it worthy enough to vote for.
