Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has earned a spot as a finalist for the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) ‘Most Valuable Player’ (MVP) award. This marks his second nomination since he joined MLS in July 2023. Messi’s teammate, Luis Suárez, also joined the list, along with Cucho Hernández from Columbus Crew, Evander from Portland Timbers, and Christian Benteke from DC United.
All finalists played at least 1,000 minutes in the regular season. Despite participating in only 55% of the games, Messi stands as a leading MVP candidate after scoring 20 goals and giving 16 assists in 19 matches. His performance led Inter Miami to win the Supporters’ Shield and break the league’s record for most points in a single season.
