Lahore 'Rape' Case Over 250 Detained Amid Student Protests

Police arrested over 250 people during protests sparked by claims of an alleged rape of a female student at a private college in Lahore. Officers identified and detained suspects using video footage. They confirmed that some of those arrested were involved in vandalism, and not all were students.

Maryam Nawaz, Punjab Chief Minister, dismissed the rape charges as a “fabricated story” intended to deceive the public. She accused political opponents of spreading rumors for political advantage. The girl’s father also rejected the occurrence, stating that his daughter was hospitalized due to a back injury sustained in a tumble at home.
