In response to Geo suspending multiple contracts with playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman, he announced that he will not work with Geo for the ‘rest of his life’.
Geo TV disassociates themselves from Rehman, after he abused a woman on a local TV channel. However, Rehman still doesn’t regret his actions. Backlash over his derogatory remarks has reached a fever pitch on social media. The Pakistani entertainment industry has been condemning Rehman’s behaviour and seeking a lifetime ban on him.
In a statement, Geo Entertainment said that the channel has suspended a four-drama and one film contract with Rehman until he apologises for using indecent language in a TV show.

Khalil-ur-Rehman said will not apologise to satisfy anyone
However, Rehman has refused to give an apology and said that he will never work with the channel. Taking to his Twitter account, Rehman also said that he will not apologise to satisfy anyone. In a separate TV show on Express News, the drama writer said he had no remorse over his behaviour. He claimed that he had not grown upset with Marvi Sirmed chanting ‘Mera Jism, Meri Marzi’ but because she had interrupted him.

Rehman not only stooped to swearing at Sirmed but also body-shamed her during the televised broadcast on Tuesday night.
On the other hand, multiple tweets where Marvi has also abused people on Twitter has also been going viral on the internet.
‘Mere Jism Meri Marzi‘ has become a slogan which not only represents but sums up Aurat March for all those who are coming out in favor of it. Marvi who recognizes herself as a feminist has come out in support of this slogan and is speaking against all those who do not understand the crux of this statement.
PEMRA moves against Rehman’s action
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Wednesday issued showcause notices to two private TV channels for broadcasting the abusive, misogynistic tirade of Rehman.
“PEMRA is issuing a show-cause notice to NEO TV program Ayesha Ehtesham Kay Sath over its broadcast of [a] vulgar and obscene chat and has ordered a response within seven days,” said a press release posted on the regulatory body’s Twitter page. “Under the relevant PEMRA regulations, a strict investigation will be taken,” it added.
Similarly, PEMRA issued another show-cause notice to Geo News over its re-broadcast of the offending footage during a discussion on it in the show, Report Card.
Moreover, hashtags of #MeraJismMeriMarzi, #khalilurrehmanqamar, #AuratMarch2020 and #WeRejectMeraJismMeriMrzi are top trends on Twitter since last few days.
