ISI is Officially Allowed to Trace and Intercept calls and Messages by the Government, in the name of the National Interest

Notification issued by the Ministry of Information has allowed ISI to track, trace, and intercept calls and messages on cell phones, in the name of national interest.

Furthermore, the Ministry noted that it had placed section 54 of the Pakistan Telecommunication (re-organisation) Act, 1996.

Section 54 authorizes ISI to track calls and messages. Moreover, the Ministry further noted no official under grade 18 is to perform the task.

Meanwhile, a conversation with Bushra Bibi was leaked. A probe in IHC revealed no authorization from the government. Bushra Bibi reached ISH, citing a violation of Article 14.
