Heatstroke Deaths in Karachi Rise to 26

In Karachi, the number of deaths due to heatstroke has risen to 26, with nine new casualties reported in the past 24 hours. The intense heat continues to affect the city.

The deceased, including six men and three women, were admitted to various hospitals. Three patients died at Jinnah Hospital, five at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, and one at Civil Hospital.

Despite some rain, Karachi remains hot and humid, with more rain expected. The Met Office predicts hot weather and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours. The city experienced temperatures up to 42°C, with “feels-like” temperatures exceeding 50°C.

Three days ago, Civil Hospital treated at least 150 heatstroke patients, with 40 still admitted. Many patients were discharged after receiving treatment for dehydration.

Authorities warn residents to stay safe in the heat by drinking lots of water and avoiding unnecessary outside activity.
