Government's Decision to Allow Phone Tapping Challenged in LHC

The petition filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeks to overrule the government’s decision to authorize ISI to tap civilian phones.

Yesterday Ministry of Information passed a notification allowing the ISI to tap, record, and read private messages of Pakistani citizens.

Meanwhile, the petition points to the violation of civilians’ right to privacy – pointing to the constitution. Moreover, the petition further, questions section 54, which authorized ISI to conduct such an action.

Though the government states that the move was to protect the National Interest, people find the move to be a fascist move.
