The French automaker Renault is all set to begin assembling cars in Pakistan by the year 2018. The company is going to invest $100, Million, to expand the capacity of Gandhara plant where it will assemble its Renault cars. The vehicles are the latest addition to the growing foreign investments in the country. This was announced by the Board of Investment who also praised the finance ministry in its role for bringing the European manufacturer.
The company will work at a capacity of 6,000 cars per shift at the Gandhara Nissan Motors facility in Karachi. Renault plans to manufacture 16,000 vehicles in three shifts and then raise its capacity to 50,000. This is also the first time a European car manufacturer is setting up a plant in Pakistan.
Reports suggest that soon Pakistanis will be getting higher quality cars with better specifications and safety measures at a lower price.
This is not a welcome news for the Japanese automakers in Pakistan, taking very high prices for their cars and not providing safety defined by international standards. Pakistanis, are really happy and ready to welcome Renault in Pakistan.
Welcome to Pakistan, @Groupe_Renault. Please bring us the cars you make; Clio, Megane, Espace, Scenic, not Dacias. https://t.co/tNL7hpjXI9
