In the modernized 21st century, the word ‘fatwa’ usually leads to controversial debates as many are seen arguing whether the fatwa makes any impact or not. In the past few years, we have heard some fatwas which many have disagreed with. Mostly coming from Arabic countries such as Saudi Arabia and Iraq, many followers have denied implementing the recent fatwas.
However, this new fatwa released by Iraqi Al-Sayyid Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani sheds lights on a matter which must be addressed by our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters.
The fatwa issued by Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani calls all the Iraqis to help their fellow refugees residing in their country. Dr. Abbas Kadhim translated the fatwa on Twitter and here’s what it reads out:

As soon as the fatwa was highlighted in Friday prayer sermons, citizens followed the fatwa and their role in providing aid to IDPs. According to Dr. Abbas Kadhim, 1000 trucks filled with supplies and food from the central and south Iraqi cities have now reached the locations of the current IDP locations.
Indeed, this fatwa is a reminder of how we need to put aside our sectarianism differences and put forward our interests by bringing humanity and unity among our Muslim brothers and sisters who need our help.
