Election Day is finally over. Results are pouring in but the voter turnout is even lesser than in the last elections. A small reason for that is the HUM TV awards. A great number of Pakistani celebrities have traveled abroad for the award show, leaving behind their civic responsibility to vote.
The people of Pakistan weren’t too happy. Over the last few days, people have been roasting them endlessly for not doing their duty. Ahmed Ali Butt got his fair share of swears and cuss words for it and he retaliated over Instagram.
Honestly, some parts of his apology make sense. Going to award ceremonies is part of his job, and I’m sure it’s not about just partying. However, this next part is what I have the biggest issue with.
“Trust me no one wants to make a 19-hour flight to Canada to party, we all work very hard to be where we want to be and Allah ka shuker hay have seen more places than you so “itnay maar nahi rahay hum log bahir janay kay leya”
Ahmed Ali Butt, I’m very glad God has given you the funds to travel wherever you want to. But how is it something to be proud of? Most people in this nation are living below the poverty line and bragging that you have more money than them is honestly a horrible think to do.
Your wealth does not make you better than anyone else. Making others feel bad for not having “enough money” shows how little of a conscience you have. A person has no control over what sort of life they’re born into and even if they do, not everyone has had the same opportunities as you have.
Learn to grow up and not be so elitist. A person’s wealth does not determine their worth. It’s their words, and your words show that you are not nearly as worth what you think you are.
