Birthday of Nikola Tesla, inventor of Alternating-current (AC)

10th July marks the birthday of Nikola Tesla. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian American inventor who introduced alternating currents, a three-phase system of electric power transmission, X-rays, etc.

Nikola Tesla was born on 10th July 1856 in the Austrian Empire (now Croatia). He was of Serbian origin. Moreover, his father was an orthodox priest, and his mother was an uneducated housewife but highly intelligent. Tesla as a youngster showed remarkable intelligence, creativity, and a slightly poetic touch.

Tesla received a degree in engineering and received training in Thomas Edison’s Continental Edison company. Meanwhile, he received practical exposure to engineering Tesla became more at in his work. Migrating to the US in 1884.

Moreover, Tesla’s biggest breakthrough came with the invention of the Alternating Current (AC). Furthermore, partnering with George Westinghouse made Tesla rich. Meanwhile, Tesla developed his own laboratory to conduct his experiments.

Tesla’s Inventions

Tesla has many inventions to his name, most notable one is alternating current. Tesla’s first project with George Westinghouse was a competition to Edison’s direct current, former winning, eventually. Meanwhile, he also invented an induction motor to facilitate AC.

Moreover, Tesla developed a three-phase system of electric power – that allows for constant voltage with alternating currents. Tesla in 1891 invented the Tesla coil – induction coil, widely used in radio technology. Furthermore, he invented X-rays which has a large medical use today.

Furthermore, Tesla invented the Air wireless system for wireless energy transmission, however, its practical implication is still not possible. Moreover, many of Tesla’s ideas, still don’t have practical implications.

Tesla was a philosopher and a humanist, his sole aim was to facilitate humanity. Tesla was far ahead of his time. Furthermore, people never credited him for his achievements, in his lifetime.

Tesla never married and had no children. He passed away in New Yorker hotel, in New York City, at age 86. A soul unrecognized in his time.
