The royals have always grabbed the attention of the world with their extraordinary activities. And when the news is about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex then it must be really unusual. However, this time the couple has made headlines with an unexpected statement on Wednesday morning.

Reportedly, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stepped back from their royal duties as senior members.

The couple became the latest associate of the British Royal family to announce their resignation from royal duties. The prince said he and his wife planned to spend more time in North America and hope to become financially independent. He explained his statement on the website and Instagram post. Previously, the Royal wedding had gained quite a lot of traction on social media.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year is starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” they wrote. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”

Rift Between The Royals

However, Buckingham Palace was not happy with the development. A statement said that discussions with the couple were “at an early stage”.

Further added, “We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.”

Apparently, the reason behind the royal family’s disappointment is because they did not receive an advance warning from the couple over their decision.

An unexpected reaction…

Apparently, the first signs of conflict among the senior royals and the couple came in last June when they just announced the creation of their own charitable organization, separate from that of the senior royal family. Moreover, they planned to balance their time between North America and the UK, as stated in a statement.

Furthermore, they wrote, “This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity”.

There are thoughts that the couple will settle in Canada, a Commonwealth country of which the Queen is head of state. The couple further explained that they would continue to honour their duties, the Commonwealth and their patronages. It’s a sign that they will not probably be resigned from the positions with UK charities and organizations.
