To all Lahoris out there, if you plan to read next, chances are you might pass out before the article finishes.
Anyway, Pakistan Super League’s second installment has been a spectacular show of entertainment so far. It has brought our emotions altogether and provided us one of the best cricket matches we could ever see!
Imagine all those people who predicted PSL would be a lackluster, boring and would ultimately fail to enthrall the audience. Arguably, its popularity and standards have skyrocketed and my word, what an exciting piece of entertainment we get to watch on almost a daily basis.

Prior to the result of last night’s match between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars’ fate was hung on a cliffhanger. Not just Lahore, but Karachi were also depended on last night’s result.
Ahead of the nail-biting clash between the two giants, rain disturbed the whole scene. It became the maddening factor that depleted the hopes of Lahoris. If the match had been called off due to rain, both, Kings and United would have been awarded a point, meaning qualification of Kings into the next round and an imminent elimination for Lahore Qalandars.

But the rain had stopped. The match was indeed delayed 1.5 hours and was reduced to only 15 overs. Fair enough, both the teams had to contest with the given match conditions.
The match finally commenced exactly at 10.30pm (PST) and we were underway a contest that gripped Lahore Qalandars in all possibilities of keeping hope.

Started with Karachi in bowling, they managed to put a cutthroat showdown with their bowling. Yet, Islamabad managed to curb the chances of boundaries. They indeed managed to put through a good score given the reduction of overs and pitch conditions. Karachi ultimately bowled all balls and at the same time, dismissed major batsmen.
Followed by, it was time for Kings to show what they got. Hope and possibility of Lahore still qualifying dangled along…
But then CHRIS GAYLE HAPPENED!

Oh, mighty Gayle… The match consisted of 5 sixes, all courtesy of Christopher Henry Gayle.
In case you missed the Gayle storm, here are the sixes he struck last night in Dubai:
Gayle you beauty, here is the video of 5 Sixes by @henrygayle tonight against #IslamabadUnited#KarachiKings #HBLPSL #AbKhelJamayGa pic.twitter.com/vsRm7lHM2U

As Chris Gayle began his formidable innings of 41 runs off 17 balls, here are some Lahoris with their best reactions…
KP fails every match, fires against Lahore
So does Pollard
Gayle did shit but knocked Lahore out.

As Chris Gayle scored 3 consecutive sixes to Saeed Ajmal’s bowls, hopes of Lahoris took a nose-dive.
He was dismissed shortly but my word, he did 90% of the job for Karachi Kings.
Who played the main role in kicking qalandars out of Psl? #KKvsIU #PSL2017 #AbKhelJamayGa pic.twitter.com/MHrUKdEAbJ

Karachi had to chase a target of 124 runs. They needed 111 or more runs to qualify for the next round, eliminating Lahore Qalandars, shattering the spirits of Lahoris.
As Kieron Pollard and Ravi Bopara joined, they took the match gradually, making every delivery count with singles. They reached a margin that was safe enough to score a couple boundaries after and finish it up.
And why not, Pollard, who has been the prodigy for Karachi Kings in PSL 2017, sealed the victory in style.
Karachiites simply love Kieron Pollard for everything he has done for them. From scoring 2 sixes off 2 balls in LQvKK to taking 4 important catches and scoring the winning streak for Kings during KKvIU
KIERON OF THE HOUSE POLLARD. LORD OF LONG ON. PROTECTOR OF THE BOUNDARY. CATCHER OF THE BALL.
